Can You See Yourself In This Story?

Can You See Yourself In This Story? [Marcin Rzucidlo / LIfe Puzzle Coach]

I discovered the “Autobiography in Five Short Chapters” by Portia Nelson listening to one of Wayne Dyer’s audio programs.

It hit me how one can describe with so few words the story of one’s life in such a descriptive and impactful way.

Making it so universal that as it refers to my life, I will risk the statement that you will find there the reflection of yours as well.

That’s how it reads.

THERE’S A HOLE IN MY SIDEWALK, Autobiography in Five Short Chapters, by Portia Nelson

Chapter One

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost …. I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter Four

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter Five

I walk down another street.

For a few years now, it has been one of my greatest inspirations as to how to manage myself in life. To the extent that I called upon it as one of six thoughts that I included in my free ebook “New Chapter”.

“New Chapter” are six thoughts to focus on whenever you stand at a threshold of a new chapter, new time; whether it is a new day, a new year or a totally new era of your life.

Download your free copy of “New Chapter” and use it as a guide. There’s always a new chapter of what you want to start, right?

Have a great read and have a great life 🙂
